Color Communication In Architectural Space

by Gerhard Meerwein, Color Communication In Architectural Space Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Color Communication In Architectural Space books, Colors are an element of both the natural and the man-made environments. They convey messages of all kinds and perform a wide variety of functions, informing, organizing, warning. But they also serve an aesthetic purpose, affecting the statement, effect, and acceptance of objects and spaces. While people’s reactions to color vary widely, in design questions it is still possible to establish generally valid color concepts to match the expectations of the various groups of users. This book offers a guide based on a wide range of scientific findings and may be consulted as an authoritative reference by the architecture student and the professional alike. The three editors, Dr. B. Rodeck, Prof. G. Meerwein, and F. H. Mahnke have taught for many years at the Salzburger Seminare für Farbe und Umwelt der IACC.

Thinking Color In Space

by Kerstin Schultz, Thinking Color In Space Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Thinking Color In Space books, The interaction between color and architecture determines our perception of space, and defines the tectonic relationships. The fascinating spatial potential of color, and the multi-layered dimensions of interpretation in the experience of color are design and communication means which, however, are often not fully used – color oscillates between autonomy and functional purpose, and should be understood as a distinct "material" that can be used as part of the design. The book focuses both on the tangible aspects and design criteria of color, and on its indeterminate nature and its experience value. Using examples in art and architecture, the spatial interdependency of color is illustrated, as is its interaction with structure, light, and geometry.

Luminous Concepts Through Design Iterations

by Kevin W. Schaffner, Luminous Concepts Through Design Iterations Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Luminous Concepts Through Design Iterations books, Light has long been an integral design feature for any architectural project, influencing both the architectural form itself, as well as those who inhabit the spaces. There is a strong link between different lighting conditions and the various emotional responses of a building's occupant. Natural light is something that architects often use, however the incorporation of light in architectural design has taken a more performance-based entity in the more recent years. With the promotion of green building principles, architects have been more apt to design their lighting needs with a focus on how the building performs sustainably, which sometimes does not portray the qualitative conditions that an architect may have in mind for a space. A push for an environmental design approach to lighting needs to now consider the occupant's reaction to various lighting conditions within a space. Architects must realize the different values of importance that light manipulates at various scales within an architectural design. Both physically manifested architecture and written literature were studied in order to understand how the sun could be explored, explained and designed around in regards to architecture. The research began with investigations into architects and designers that have a strong connection to natural lighting, studying how the sun can shape and organize architecture. Through the studying of light in the built environment, as well as the psychology of human perception, this research looks to clarify what qualitative responses are elicited from various lighting conditions, gaining a better understanding of how light can become a more impactful design material at that every different scale within architecture. 'Concepts of Light through Design Iterations' looks to redefine the way in which architects and designers consider the luminous environment within the design process. Through the implementation of iterative design strategies, this methodology hopes to encourage a constant link between architectural design process and the potential power of the luminous environment.

Architectural Colour In The Professional Palette

by Fiona McLachlan, Architectural Colour In The Professional Palette Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Architectural Colour In The Professional Palette books, How do architects use color? Do they adopt a different strategy or starting point for every project? Do they gradually cultivate individual color palettes, which develop alongside their body of built work? Do they utilize, or are they aware of, the body of theoretical work that underpins the use of color in the past, and forms the basis of most of the color systems commercially available today? Informed by the author’s thirty years in architectural practice and academia, this book investigates, documents and analyzes the work of a number of contemporary architects in order to respond to these questions and provide a clear reference of contemporary color use. The book suggests a holistic approach to the integration of color in architecture; through a series of thematic essays, the text explores and reveals underlying principles in color design and application. Case studies include: AHMM Caruso St John Erich Wiesner and Otto Steidle Gigon/Guyer O’Donnell + Tuomey Sauerbruch Hutton Steven Holl UN Studio. The book provides clear insights into how particular contemporary architects use color confidently and intelligently as an integral part of their design philosophy, in conjunction with their choices of materials and finishes. Offering a stimulating view of the history of color theory, and pragmatic advice to practicing architects, this book will be inspiring to both design professionals and students.

Die Augen Der Haut

by Juhani Pallasmaa, Die Augen Der Haut Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format.
